"Life imitates Art"
Today, while driving through Washington DC, I saw a clock tower that I had never seen before; it was aesthetically similar to the Eastwatch Clock Tower in my fictional city of Nautalia. I had just parked my car, hoping to get a better look, when a flock of dark birds dropped from the sky and forked around the tower, speeding deeper into the city. Surreal.

Teenreads.com has a feature on my novel at their website, and Bookreporter.com has just posted a 4/5 star review.
The Tower of Shadows signed book giveaway at Pat's Fantasy Hotlist has ended. Congratulations to the winners!
And for those of you who subscribe to the My Borders Monthly newsletter: If you keep your eyes open for this month's edition, you may see my name attached to the feature article.

I've just finished reading the newly released This Forsaken Earth, the sequel to the nautical sword and sorcery The Mark of Ran by Paul Kearney, and am eagerly awaiting book three of his "Sea Beggars" trilogy. These books are some of the best fantasy I have read in years. His writing reminds me of the poetic prose found in Peter S. Beagle and Neil Gaiman novels, his characters are darkly riveting, and his worlds--fraught with magic, mayhem, and quasi-biblical myth--are enthralling.
I'm currently finishing up Song of the Fell Hammer by Shawn Speakman, a good friend of mine who is now working on book two of his first epic fantasy trilogy. Shawn has recently sent his manuscript to Del Rey Books to see if they are interested in publishing his story. Fingers crossed, Shawn!
Next in my ever-growing queue of unread books: The Terror by Dan Simmons and The Meaning of Night by Michael Cox.
